I’m in love again with a twisted little bird I’m in love with a broken little girl can’t you see him moving can’t you see her fly can’t you see them move me, baby, me across the sky me across the sky I’m in love again with a mist upon the sea the coast of Brighton and the ghost who haunts his dreams and hides her gold in verses hides up in the trees hides me in her branches so I can not be seen I can not be seen I’m in love again with a long and twisted road I can see Las Vegas in the distance where nobody calls home where no one seeks a fortune and no one’s left to lose nothing in that bag for me, baby, nothing there for you nothing there for you I’m in love again a whisper of a war I am in love left to die upon the shore but I would not go easy I would not be yours I did not lay this body down just kept coming back for more kept coming back for more

When I wake up tomorrow, baby, I’m gonna start all over again shine my shoes, take out the trash, let a little sunshine in raze these mortal cities and the pleasures that you gave to me and start all over I will start all over I’m gonna start all over when the dawn comes stealing in to your lonely little room and the ground beneath you breaks and nations fall to ruin when everything you believed dies before it comes to be you will start all over you will start all over you’re gonna start all over when her fingers whisper low “come, love, come to me” and she opens every door and love she comes to me I will kill all suffering and in her be born again and sleep forever till I start all over I’m gonna sleep forever when the rivers find their home in the mighty sea and your children hide their eyes from your sad captivity and the whales they sing like angels and the tides they set you free we will start all over we’re gonna start all over we’re gonna do it different this time

i had a dream that you were leaving so when you did i tried to act surprised but there’s a time and place for every damnedest love and damn if this ain’t mine please say that you don’t want me tell me that i am just a worm please let this be the moment that you leave cause I can’t stand waiting anymore and you can rage against the nighttime you can sit there weeping till the dawn of the day and you can call my name through the long and lonely morning but you know baby we can’t go on this way you used to say when we were older we would weave the broken grasses of the plain a ring of gold and a kiss for every star now you tell me, “baby, love is pain” i had a dream that you were leaving so when you did i tried to act surprised but there’s a time and place for every damnedest love and damn if this ain’t mine

We Got Lucky 04:04
Don't you know we got lucky, babe? Lucky with a six-eighteen They say I should be grateful but I don't think that's what grateful means. They say I should fall on my knees and praise the lord above They say that I should give myself unto his holy love But we don't want no afterlife we don't want no great beyond Maybe go to school, do something cool, make a living for f•••ing once, don't you know we got lucky. Don't you know we got lucky, babe? Born in the USA. Spend our money as we please as soon as we get paid. Don't you know we're gonna scratch that stone till it bleeds a bloody dime Touch me, touch me, baby, one more time, but I don't need no light of god, don't need no afterlife, the cops are coming, baby, hide your eyes and we'll make it through the night, don't you know we got lucky, babe. Don't you know we got lucky, babe, for the teeth still in the jaw? Got our health till winter comes creeping through the walls. We mangy dogs, we crackin' skin, we fightin' just for fun. Somebody died downstairs last night, the doctor never come. So, we don't want no afterlife, don't need no heavenly host, and if I am the lucky one, this whole thing is a joke, don't you know we got lucky, babe. Don't you know we got lucky, babe? Burned down the Mickey D's Don't you know we got lucky, babe, if that's what lucky means, They say I should fall on They say I should fall on my knees and praise the lord above They say that I should give myself unto his holy love. But we don't want no afterlife we don't want no great beyond Maybe go to school, do something cool, make a living for f•••ing once, don't you know we got lucky.

I had a dream, sky darkest blue, moon high above o she shining on you Scorpion rise on sovereign sea I am in the stars and the stars are in me and I can hear you singing in that deepest darkest night and I know the big one’s coming, baby, but I know love is still alive, love is still alive You hold the flint, I hold the steel, and I will be the words, baby, you will be the feel, a song for the weary from far galaxy I am in the wolf and the wolf is in me do you see me moving baby flying cross the seven seas, a low and hungry lullaby, bring you to your knees and I still hear you singing through that long and lonely night and I know the big one’s coming, baby but I know love is still alive Scorpion rise, and the wolf is coming too, and I am in the song and the song is in you The stars take the moon, and the moon takes the sea, and the song takes the hunger, baby, and the hunger, it takes me and when the wall comes down, you know I’ll be standing by with a fork and a spoon and a hunger for you, when the veil is cast aside and I still hear you singing in that long and lonely night and I know the big one’s coming but I know love is still alive

You been working that master chaynj you been waiting on the world to chaynj you been counting up gold that you’ll never see you been counting like a fool on a chaynj in me But, somewhere in the circuits I can hear you working to keep it all the same I know you’re watching me, I know you’re watching that master chaynj Sun rise on the master chaynj a brand new dawn for a brand new day I heard the sound of the white shadow I heard the sound of the beetle digging that sparrow’s grave Can’t you hear the way the ocean moves Can’t you see the moon, she’s laughing at you Can’t you get a little bandage for that little wound Can’t you feel that master chaynj coming for you

about

“[Inspired by] Tina Turner and the Blade Runner score, Nick Cave and The Temptations, Smokey Robinson and Kendrick Lamar... It all adds up to a dizzyingly delicious first dish from Warka—digestible, yes, but profound enough to satisfy deep cravings. Master Chaynjis contains theme and variation, articulation, and syncopation. It also slaps, with soaring, sing-along choruses”
– Nick McGregor, Indyweek

Warka is the synth-pop music project of American singer-songwriter Jesse Ainslie, (former guitarist for Phosphorescent and Castanets), along with collaborators Brendon Massei (Viking Moses) and Evan Bradford (audio engineer to The Avett Brothers, Dawes, and Justin Townes Earle) to help with production and songwriting.

Warka's debut release Master Chaynjis is a slow burning album of apocalyptic rhythm and blues, pulsing with electronic beats and synthesizers, yet compositionally informed by American roots music.
